Booking a flight ticket in the non civilised world

Now before anybody jumps to the wrong conclusion I was not trying to book the ticket in Russia.

I am currently in The Netherlands but I was trying to book a ticket from Russia to the UK using British web sites.

After spending the best part of a day trying to get the "Travel' web sites to come up with acceptable connections that I know are available I finally got the correct connections.

I think to myself OK job done.

How wrong was I.

First attempt.
Sorry we could not process your transaction.

Second attempt.
Please log on to the Credit Card Secure site, so I log on.
Sorry your details are not recognised.

Third attempt
Redirected to a different secure site, enter certain details from the CC, your name and date of birth.
"Sorry the details you entered are incorrect.
So I do not know my own name or my date of birth.

Fourth attempt using a different CC I did manage to get the problem sorted.

So What is the big deal I hear everybody ask.

Well apart from having to restart the search and then to narrow down the options in order to get the correct flights for every attempt (taking about half an hour each time) [angry2.gif] NO FCUKING PROBLEM.

Rant over.

I suggest you change the websites you use. I have found Opodo and Terminala to be very reliable and have never had any problems like the ones you described.

Sorry to disappoint but Opodo was one of the culprits.

Terminala. Just checked them, theydid come up with the correct flight connections on the first search [excellent.gif] but I would have to have booked through Opodo [nono.gif] [angry2.gif]

Thanks for the info I will try them in the future [drinks.gif]

I’m not normally one to fall for these comparison websites, but I have generally found one that does give me great prices of all my flights. I have to travel quite a bit to see my boyfriend and unlike Ryan Air etc they don’t start by saying they are cheap and end up becoming massively expensive, this website directflights gave me the real price [yahoo.gif] and was simple to use. I tested all the mentioned above flight providers, Opodo, Terminala even the Directflights advertised by the spammer..... and all fail to find me any cheaper flight than the one I booked directly with S7 Russian airline...... Opodo and Directflights offered me the same flights with an added cost of minimum of £15 and the Terminala failed to offer any flights.

I am very happy to spent a little more time and find the right flight.......... and booking directly with the airline, which offers better protection that the sites working as Agents for the airlines. At least I know my flight is been paid instead for having problems as Raffi mentioned earlier.

About my hotels I use a site called Booking. com..... get very good prices and more importantly my card is charged only when I leave the hotel.

BTW Cheesy, I know somebody who flies at least 3-4 times transatlantic to Philladelphia... and he is using sleeping pills.!

If you are referring to a method to try and beat "Jetlag" in my opinion sleeping pills are a bad idea.

The two things that I use to combat "Jetlag" are:
  1. I set my wrist watch to the time of the destination as soon as I board the aeroplane.

  2. When I arrive, I stay awake until it is normal bed time at the destination, no mater how tired I feel I just refuse to let myself fall asleep.

The method works quite well (for me) and as you know I do a fair amount of "long haul travel".

That works great for me as well. Also, if your mind is ready to give up before its "bedtime" , try looking direct into a bright light (sunlight, bright TL bulb etc.) It will wake you up again to last another hour.
