I don't remember having write or sign any other letter apart from the application form (in Russian) in front of the registrar, which my wife did on my behalf and also filled her info on the other side of the application...

Whether a letter is needed or not depends on a few factors.
The two that spring immediately to mind are:
  • As we know every ZAGS has slightly different requirements.

  • If you wish for your future wife to deal with the documentation while you are absent she will require the equivalent of a "Power of Attorney"

So in my opinion if the ZAGS in question says that they require a letter it is easier to comply with them than to have to argue with them.

"wiz" Please note that this is My opinion [tonque.gif]
And of course your opinion is always right....... [giveup.gif] .[haha.gif].

  • I agree with you that the rules are basically the same but depends which person is sitting on that chair....... and his/her jobsworth importance, otherwise.... it's all the same and printed in the rules book, always forget to give a copy! [sarcastic.gif]

  • On the second point I will have to say that depends on each personal circumstances.

If you partner continue living in Russia.... then a ""Power of Attorney" is necessary But is like my wife she moved over here..... then it wasn't necessary for her to have a Power of Attorney from me, because al documents were for her own situation and she could handle it personally!

Horses for courses my friend..........don't you agree?

Yes, it does depend on who is sitting in the chair but at times going with the flow is easier than
