Thank you very much for this post!

Looking the paintings it reminds me of my grandmother!

Most of the paintings were made from real life during WW2. My grandfather died in the battle of Kursk and my grandmother waited for him all her life. She received a letter about his death but still believed that one day her husband will be back home, unfortunate he did not comeback, so sad story! :(

I am sorry to hear about your grandfather dying in the Battle of Kursk, even sadder is the fact that your grandmother waited for him for all her life.

Many people died during the war from many countries, there are many sad stories.

I was very lucky to find the website with the paintings (by accident).

I agree with you that is very obvious that those paintings were painted in real life, the pain the despair and the pride that shines through the paintings is not something that can be captured from imagination, the people that painted the paintings were there, the emotion that shines through cannot be faked

I am happy [glad.gif] that those pictures brought you some pleasure.
