I write this thread as I think of a man I know in my city. He has a UW girlfriend who he has gone to visit once. He then tried to get her a tourist visa with no luck. He asked me what I would do and I mentioned that if I really liked the lady, I would make several more visits and it things were really clicking and I had no doubts, I would bring her here on a Fiancee visa. His response was that he's not sure with all the uncertainty and does not have time to leave work now and does not want to take the risk bringing her here on a K-1 visa without her first visiting as a tourist.

My response was that he's no different than thousands of other men and that if he does not have the patience to see it through, then it's best to stay local. I say this because one thing I have learned, things do not always go as planned when dating someone overseas and there really is no shortcut to taking your time and really getting to know the person.

Give that man a prize, he hit the nail right on the head.

I 100% agree with there is no shortcut.
